Update 5/14/2020

Field Family,

Two weeks to go.  I hope all is well.  I know I am ready for warmer weather!  I have a few reminders for you.  The deadline for open enrollment for next year is June 15, 2020 for grades 1-12.   The deadline for kindergarten open enrollment is September 11, 2020.  These are hard deadlines.  No one will be admitted through open enrollment after deadline dates.

Kindergarten registration is open on the website.  If you have a young person who will be 5 on or before August 1, 2020, go to our website for all of the information on how to register.  It is open now.  The sooner the better to register for next year.

There will be a survey coming to your email.  This survey will give us important information as we plan for all possibilities next year.  Please take a moment to complete the survey.

Some good news, the parking lot project is expected to begin right after Memorial Day.  This will be an exciting time for the district!  We cannot wait for it to be ready!

As for next year, I do not know what will happen.  The State of Ohio is issuing guidance soon that will be very broad.  We expect more specifics later in the summer.  We will need to be patient.  When I know something, I will let you know.  My best guess, please let me emphasize, GUESS, is we return in the fall with a hybrid model.  Some students in buildings and some at home each day.   That is my best guess today.  When it is more than a guess, I will let you know.  Realistically, I think it will be July before we know for certain.

Thank you for your continued support of Field!

Dave Heflinger

(If mailing your application, please allow time so it is received by Sept. 11, 2020)  If a renewal open enrollment application is not turned in by June 15, 2020, Field Local Schools will let your home district of residence made aware that you have not applied for open enrollment for the upcoming school year.

Update 5/7/2020

Field Family,

I hope this email finds everyone well as we head toward the end of the school year.  The Class of 2020 graduation will be private, family ceremonies.  Each family will have an appointment time.  Mr. Geraghty will be reaching out with information about setting up appointments.  We will have the graduation over multiple days beginning Tuesday, May 26.  As always, we will have the photographer there for pictures.  We will also be video recording each student.  We will put it together as one video ceremony and give a copy to any senior who requests it.

The school year will be ending a few days early.  Our last day for online instruction will be Thursday, May 28.  Our staff will be using the last week to prepare for different possibilities for next year.  I have no idea what school will look like in the fall.  We are doing our best to prepare for many different options, but it is impossible to have all the planning complete until we know what the model will be.  I will keep you posted, and let you know as soon as I know anything.

If you have not heard from your principal, you will soon.  Each principal will reach out with dates, times, and directions to clean out/pick up things left at the school, and drop off school materials you have at home.  Watch for their emails.

Beginning Tuesday, May 19, all offices in the district will be open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-2.  We still strongly encourage you to take care of any business possible by email or phone.  If you need to come to a building office or the board office, you can during these times.

When you come to any of the buildings or offices, you will see all of our staff wearing masks.  I strongly encourage you to wear a mask as well. We have been told it is a best practice.  Our goal is to keep you and all of us safe.

Thank you for your help and support for Field.  Only three more weeks.  We are almost there!

Dave Heflinger

KNOW! How to Keep Kids in Focus if Divorce Occurs

Why the child-centered focus? Because as painful as separation and divorce are for the couple going through it, they can be devastating and disastrous for the children involved. National Child-Centered Divorce Awareness Month was created to alert parents about the potential effects of divorce on children, and to help protect young people’s emotional, psychological, and physical well-being.  Click here for a discussion guide.
