Camp Invention Logo

Camp Invention is Coming!

Camp Invention takes summer fun and transforms it from ordinary to extraordinary!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Suffield Elementary School is pleased to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades K-6. It’s an exciting, weeklong summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children will work together to seek solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21 st century learning skills while rotating through several fascinating modules. The week begins on June 25, 2018 with Samantha Wilson serving as Director of the Fast Forward™ program!

Here is how young innovators will be spending their time:
? Dreaming up and designing their very own futuristic smart home filled with gadgets, LEDs,
technology and innovation
? Using tools to take apart robotic dogs and compare their inner mechanics to the anatomy
and physiology of a real dog
? Designing tracks for their Optibots to follow while exploring different modes of transportation
? Exploring chemistry, non-Newtonian fluids and magnetism as they investigate magnetic
slime
All activities give participants the opportunity to explore, discover and achieve while having fun! Local educators will facilitate program modules and enthusiastic high school students will serve as Leadership Interns, ensuring that one staff member is in place for every eight children. Register using promo code Ideas25 to save $25 (expires 3/23) and Ideas15 to save $15 (expires 5/4) OFF $225. Every registration includes a complimentary Camp Invention t-shirt. Availability is limited, so visit www.campinvention.org or call 800.968.4332 to secure your child’s spot today.
New School Attendance Law (HB410)

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

The state of Ohio has put a new law into effect this school year with expectations of attendance for all students. Field Local School District has adopted this policy.

The 2017-18 school year is here and Field Local Schools staff has exciting plans and high expectations for your child’s learning.  We know that you also have many hopes and dreams for your child’s success in school and beyond.

To make sure those hopes and dreams are realized, we want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement.  This is true for every grade – elementary, middle, and high school students. Click here to read the policy.

KNOW! Mental Health

With the start of each New Year, people commonly vow to improve their physical health, including diet, nutrition, and exercise. While this is a vital measure to take, it is equally important to resolve to improve one’s mental and emotional heath as well. A healthy mind is fundamental to a person’s overall well-being, regardless of age. Our mental state affects how we think, feel, and act. Check out this parent tip sheet.
