Field Facts and Information

There is a lot happening at Field Middle School. The dedicated teaching staff has over 580 years of teaching experience. The students benefit from that experience every day. Last year, 73% of FMS students earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above. Sixty-five students earned a perfect 4.0 last year.
Academically, FMS students benefit from receiving 86 minutes of instruction in Math and Language Arts each day. The longer periods in these core subjects allow for more in-depth learning and provide opportunities for individual assistance. Students also have the chance to engage in many encore classes in their three years. Just some of the offerings include Art, Physical Education, Music, Computer Coding, Money Management, Digital Media, and many others. During the eighth grade year, students also participate in a Career Shadow Day and Career Fair.
FMS is an older building, but people come together to keep things in great shape for the students. This past summer the district replaced the PA system. The old system was poor quality and not functioning in some places. The new system allows for excellent communication of routine events and emergencies. The FMS PTO has purchased technology and stage curtains in the past several years. They have also funded a number of student and teacher requests.
The middle school years are such an important part of everyone’s life. FMS is a great, caring place to experience those years!

Portage County Tax Reappraisal Info

Field Families:
I know many of you are receiving your tax reappraisal from the Portage County Auditor.  This can lead to questions about how this impacts the school district, especially with a levy on the ballot.  Ohio school finance laws are complicated and can be difficult to understand.  I want to share some facts that will, hopefully, explain how this impacts the district. Reappraisal of taxable values is required by law every six years.  Portage County is undergoing reappraisal in Tax Year 2018 for Tax Collection Year 2019.  The Field School District has a new tax levy on the November 2018 ballot for first collection in 2019.  This ballot issue is 9.85 mill operating and 1 mill permanent improvement.  The DOLLAR AMOUNT. . .

We are very excited to announce that the Field Local Schools has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service that will be replacing paper forms. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign enrollment, back-to-school and athletic participation forms for your students. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time.

You may review your data at any time to verify it is current. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and after any update.

Click on the Parent Playbook to read the help guide or click here to click here to get started in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom and click “User Support”.

We are asking that ALL parents of students use FinalForms.
Thank you for your assistance in streamlining our paperwork processes at Field Local Schools.

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

The state of Ohio has put a new law into effect this school year with expectations of attendance for all students. Field Local School District has adopted this policy.

The 2017-18 school year is here and Field Local Schools staff has exciting plans and high expectations for your child’s learning.  We know that you also have many hopes and dreams for your child’s success in school and beyond.

To make sure those hopes and dreams are realized, we want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement.  This is true for every grade – elementary, middle, and high school students. Click here to read the policy.

KNOW! What's Trending--Academic Success

As teens begin a new school year, we have the opportunity to help them start strong and stay on track toward academic success. We all know the importance of academic achievement in shaping the minds of our children, giving them a competitive edge to further their education and to better prepare them for future careers. In addition, research shows there are health benefits as well—as young people who achieve higher grades in the classroom also don’t use drugs. Click here for the discussion guide.
