Field Facts and Information

Field High School has many exciting things to share with everyone. FHS works to create a warm environment that makes students, staff and visitors feel welcome. The art department has completed many paintings and murals in the building. The art program continues to grow and everyone is proud of our talented students’ work. FHS also received a “spirit upgrade” with a planned update of the gym floor and wall pads. Red is our school color and red is the focus. Please come to an event this year and see the Falcon Pride for yourself.
FHS is pleased to add two new electives for the 2018/19 school year. American Sign Language (ASL) and Computer Coding have been added to the curriculum options. These additions came from student interest and requests. ASL counts as a foreign language for students who are headed to college. The Falcon Period is also new this school year. The Falcon Period takes place once a week and allows for students to receive assistance as needed. During this time students can receive extra help, make-up tests, finish labs or projects. It is also a time when meetings will occur. Groups such as National Honor Society, Student Council, Teen Institute, and the Spanish club will meet during this time. It will also be utilized for class meetings. Freshman will spend a few of the periods receiving instruction about study habits, time management and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. FHS is a great place to learn and grow!

Show Your Spirit with Big Red Community Banners

Big Red Community Foundation Street Banner Sale Street Banners are the newest project of the Big Red Community Foundation this year. Banners will be hung on telephone poles down St. Rt. 43 near the High School and Middle School Campus as well as by Suffield and Brimfield Elementary. The number of banners purchased will determine the whereabouts of the banner placement. If you are a business or organization and would like to use your logo instead of your name, please contact us for logo requirements. For more information on banners, costs placements, etc., please feel free to email Erin Roberts at, or visit The Big Red Community Fund website at:

Portage County Tax Reappraisal Info

Field Families:
I know many of you are receiving your tax reappraisal from the Portage County Auditor.  This can lead to questions about how this impacts the school district, especially with a levy on the ballot.  Ohio school finance laws are complicated and can be difficult to understand.  I want to share some facts that will, hopefully, explain how this impacts the district. Reappraisal of taxable values is required by law every six years.  Portage County is undergoing reappraisal in Tax Year 2018 for Tax Collection Year 2019.  The Field School District has a new tax levy on the November 2018 ballot for first collection in 2019.  This ballot issue is 9.85 mill operating and 1 mill permanent improvement.  The DOLLAR AMOUNT. . .

We are very excited to announce that the Field Local Schools has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service that will be replacing paper forms. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign enrollment, back-to-school and athletic participation forms for your students. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time.

You may review your data at any time to verify it is current. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and after any update.

Click on the Parent Playbook to read the help guide or click here to click here to get started in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom and click “User Support”.

We are asking that ALL parents of students use FinalForms.
Thank you for your assistance in streamlining our paperwork processes at Field Local Schools.

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

The state of Ohio has put a new law into effect this school year with expectations of attendance for all students. Field Local School District has adopted this policy.

The 2017-18 school year is here and Field Local Schools staff has exciting plans and high expectations for your child’s learning.  We know that you also have many hopes and dreams for your child’s success in school and beyond.

To make sure those hopes and dreams are realized, we want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement.  This is true for every grade – elementary, middle, and high school students. Click here to read the policy.

KNOW! What's Trending--Supporting Your LGBT

As discussed in the previous tip, Know! To Support Your LGBT Student, we learned that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth face an increased risk of bullying, violence, and sexual assault, compared to their heterosexual peers. In turn, these youth experience higher rates of depression, suicide and suicidal thoughts, substance use, and risky sexual behavior. We also discussed the impact of parental acceptance versus rejection on a child’s mental, emotional, and physical health, and learned what parents can do to better protect and support their LGBT child’s overall health and well-being. Click here for the discussion guide.
