Updating Final Forms and Contact Info

Dear Parents:

We have had several emails/phone calls come back as "undeliverable" from parent accounts via the One Call Now notification system. Please go into your Final Forms accounts and update any parent contact information such as emails or phone numbers.  This is a very important step and will help us get crucial information to you for the school year.  Please click on Final Forms to update contact information.

As always, we appreciate your cooperation.

School Calendar 2020-2021 (Board Approved 9/14/20)

Dear Field Families,
I am informing you about a change to the start of the school year. In-person students will start on Wednesday, September 16. Online students will start on Thursday, September 17. This change has been made to allow our teachers and staff to have more time to be familiar with our new way of teaching. The teachers will be live streaming as they teach in-person students. We want to offer as much preparation time as we can, to have as smooth a start as possible. Online students are starting one day later to give the staff a day with in-person students to go over the new procedures. Everything from how things work in the classroom, to lunch, and changing rooms will be different this year.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

School Safety Update

We are just beginning the implementation of something new at Suffield Elementary. School Safe ID is a system to help protect our students and staff. When you are picking up your child or coming to visit, you will need your state issued ID. A quick scan of your ID checks you in or your child out. The system will compare the visitor's name and date of birth to the national database of registered sex offenders. The system only records a visitor's name and date of birth. No additional data from the license will be entered into the system. Approved frequent visitors can receive a digital pass, to be scanned in lieu of a driver’s license.
Please help us by reminding any of your family members who might be visiting that they will also need their ID. Should a visitor not have a valid stat-issued ID, he or she will not be permitted to enter the school without an escort. School Safe ID has been funded through funds dedicated to school safety and security. As always, our office staff will be on hand to help you out as you get familiar with this new process. While this system is new, it may take a few more minutes of your time to check into the school, but the safety of our students, and staff is of utmost importance. We thank you for understanding.

KNOW! To Talk About George Floyd and Racism with Youth

There remains a great deal of apprehension and uncertainty in our country as we move forward in life amidst a pandemic. However, just as life seemed to be moving in a more positive direction, we were hit again by a virus of another type, one that has plagued our nation for generations—racism. It most recently reared its ugly head through the death of George Floyd. The amount of anger, anguish, and unrest many Americans are feeling has reached epidemic levels—and rightfully so. Our young people are watching and learning. The question is, what are we teaching them?  Click here for a discussion guide.
