As part of Earth Day 2022, we are excited to host a recycle fair. Our students had an opportunity to see a young student who recycled cardboard boxes and made a full arcade. Our students are invited to participate in making his/her own arcade game to showcase at our students' Recycle Arcade on May 24th. Let's see what creative students we have at Suffield!

If you are interested in viewing the fair, the Recycle Arcade will be open for K-2 Parents from 9:30-10:30 am and for 3-5 parents from 1:00-2:00 pm.  We invite you to stop in and see the creative games our students have constructed.  See this PDF for more details.

We would like to remind you that the 2nd grade will be taking the CogAT test on Thursday, May 19th, and Friday, May 20th, please be present on those days. Students generally score higher if they take tests on the regular testing day, so please do not schedule routine doctor or dentist appointments on these days. It is important that your child has a good night’s rest and eats a healthy breakfast on testing day.

 

 

 

Please follow these 3 steps to register your kindergarten student for the 2022-2023 school year.

 

Step 1:  Go to Final Forms to register your student Parents/Guardians with a current student enrolled in Field Local Schools should choose the Parent Icon, login and choose Add A Student Parents/Guardians without a current student enrolled in Field Local Schools should choose the Parent Icon and click on New Account.  You will need a valid email address to register your student.

Step 2:  Required documents need for registration: All students registering for the 2022 –2023 school year must be five years old on or before August 1st, 2022 Original Birth Certificate Student’s Social Security Card  Immunization Records 2 Proofs of Residency* Driver’s License of Parent or Legal Custodian Registering Student  Custody Documents, if applicable Copies of IEP/ETR, if applicable The item(s) MUST be in the parent or legal Guardian’s name and be dated within the last 30 days. The item needs to contain a complete address with city, state, and zip code. Field Local Schools will ONLY accept the following items (no photographs accepted): -1 proof of residency must be a signed lease (with tenant & landlord signature) or mortgage statement -Gas, water, electric, sewer or waste removal bill -Bank statement -Pay stub -Cable/Internet/Landline statement -Homeowner/ Renter Insurance declaration, Deed or Property Tax statement -Official document from federal, state or county agency showing benefits received (may qualify)

During your appointment: Bring the required documents from Step 2 During this time, you will be asked to fill out an order form for the required tote bag used by kindergartners.  This bag fits on their chair and allows them to easily keep their belongings organized.  It will be used by the students all year.   Please bring $15 cash or check.  (Checks made payable to your building PTA--Brimfield PTA or Suffield PTA.)

Things to remember: Your student does not need to be present at your appointment. You must have ALL required forms completed in Final Forms to register your student. You must bring $15 to order a tote bag during your registration.

Open enrollment applications for grades 1-12 will be accepted beginning Monday February 14, 2022 through June 3, 2022.  

Open enrollment applications for incoming Suffield Kindergarten will be accepted beginning Monday February 14, 2022 through Friday Aug. 26, 2022.  

Applications will not be accepted after the deadline of June 3, 2022. (If mailing your application, please allow time so it is received by June 3, 2022)  Open Enrollment will close and no new Open Enrollment applications will be accepted during the school year.  Applications for Suffield Kindergarten Open Enrollment will not be accepted after the deadline of Aug. 26, 2022. (If mailing your application, please allow time so it is received by Aug. 26, 2022)  

If a renewal open enrollment application is not turned in by June 3, 2022, Field Local Schools will make your home district of residence aware that you have not applied for open enrollment for the upcoming school year.

 

Applications will be considered on an individual basis according to the order in which they are received.

 

A separate application for each child along with two (2) proofs of residency (1 proof of residency must be a signed lease (with tenant & landlord signature)  or mortgage statement) and a copy of the student’s birth certificate must be submitted for each student requesting admission to the Field Local Schools.

Below are the new COVID guidelines in accordance with the health department recommendations. These guidelines will go into effect 1/31/22. 

We will no longer be contact tracing students. 

Positive cases will be reported once per week. 

If a student reports that a family member within the home is positive, we will confirm that what the student is saying is true and then the student will be asked to wear a mask to stay.

If there is a large increase of positive cases in a classroom (10-20% increase) then this will be reported to the health department much like we report large increases of diseases such as hand foot and mouth disease. This class would be considered exposed and it would be recommended to wear a mask and monitor for symptoms. 

If a student is positive they will stay home for 5 days from the start of symptoms and wear a mask for 5 days after they return to school. 

We will no longer be testing athletes in order for them to participate in sports. 

To summarize, if you have COVID you go home and quarantine, if not, stay in school. Overall, this should make things much easier when it comes to COVID management in school.
