Strong reading skills form the basis for learning in all subjects.  As your child's teacher, I will read a variety of poems, stories, fiction, and non-fiction books aloud to the students. In kindergarten your child will learn that letters and sounds go together to form words, and how to identify alphabet letters and their sounds. Kindergarten children are expected to read high-frequency words by sight before the end of the year.  They are also expected to read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding.  In addition to their classroom instruction at school, please help by supporting your child's reading success at home in any way possible to help make them curious confident readers.
