Mural Details

Every student in the school rolled a small piece of red clay into a ball.

They found an interesting area on the bottom of their shoe.
Then they squished the clay...

...leaving a good impression of the spot.  The print was fired and glazed.
Students chose from a glaze palette of six colors.

We ended up with a lot of interesting patterns...

...which were sorted by dominate color:  blue, pink, beige, turquoise, and equal combination.
As you can see, blue and turquoise were the top colors!

The clay prints were spread out onto a painted plywood panel and
arranged into a design.  The design was determined by the amount of clay prints
we had for each color.

And then each piece was glued on using mosaic adhesive.  The entire
surface was grouted and cleaned.

The Dr. Seuss excerpt was printed onto regular paper to determine the
location of the words.  Each phrase was then printed onto laser transfer paper.

The transfer paper phrases were applied to the clay prints, given a coat
of protective spray, and the mural was finally complete!
