Math
Please review colors, shapes, and numbers often. Students should practice math facts, or counting in writing and out loud frequently.

At this age, it is common to write numbers backwards. Do not worry, just help correct it :)

Also, addition and subtraction math facts could be incorporated to daily life. -French fries, refrigerator items, and toys can all become wonderful learning tools.

The big vocabulary for first grade is composing and decomposing numbers. Number sentences are also critical. ex. 5+10=15. We compose when we add and decompose when we subtract.

We try to review shapes, number writing, and basic math facts daily. These are the formative years and I am so excited to get to be a part of it! I love first grade and it has been such a wonderful transition because I am able to stretch lessons a little further (as I am familiar with third grade and up). :)

Thank you for all of your hard work at home. Together, we will take your child so far this year! :)
