8th Grade Career Shadow Information

The 8th grade teachers and administrators have planned an 8th Grade Work Shadow Day.  This program is set aside for our students to enter the world of work.  It will become part of the 8th grade curriculum during which the students will spend 5 hours of one school day at a job site shadowing a career which they might be interested in pursuing.

On May 17, 2019, your child will be required to spend the day with an adult at a workplace chosen by you and your child.

The permission slip must be completed and returned no later than May 3, 2019

Each student will be required to spend at least 5 hours at the work site.  Please note that an academic day of school is being provided. Students may not choose Field Middle School as a work site!

They will be given a packet explaining what information should be gathered on the Shadow Day.  This information will be used for a mock interview and on a tri-fold presentation.

They may go to work site alone or with one other 8th grader.

On Thursday, May 23 2019, students will participate in a mock interview with a pair of teachers to simulate what a real job interview might feel like.

On Friday, May 24,  2019,  an 8th grade Career Fair will be held in the middle school gym.  All of the 8th graders will display their required tri-board projects based on the Shadow Day site they attended.

It is our hope that you will diligently work with your child to find a location at which they can spend a day of work.  It is beneficial to send your child with a parent, relative, neighbor or a friend of the family.  We strongly suggest you choose someone with whom your child and you feel comfortable with.

Please remember that this day is not optional; it is part of the regular school schedule.  This project will count as a significant project grade in each of their core classes for the 4th nine weeks. Any student not attending the Shadow Day work assignment will be considered absent without excuse and receive a zero for all subject areas.  All projects must be completed by the date due or a failing grade in each of the academic classes will be assigned.

If you have any questions please call one of your child’s teachers at the middle school (330) 673-4176.

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

New School Attendance Law (HB410)

The state of Ohio has put a new law into effect this school year with expectations of attendance for all students. Field Local School District has adopted this policy.

The 2017-18 school year is here and Field Local Schools staff has exciting plans and high expectations for your child’s learning.  We know that you also have many hopes and dreams for your child’s success in school and beyond.

To make sure those hopes and dreams are realized, we want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement.  This is true for every grade – elementary, middle, and high school students. Click here to read the policy.

KNOW! What's Trending--Know Your Child's Health Rank

Parenting requires a daily balancing act—especially when it comes to raising tweens and teens. According to newly released research from the University of Texas Health Science Center, many of us should reexamine the health habits of our children (as well as our own) and help to make some adjustments. After studying the lifestyles of more than 60,000 American high school students, they found that only 1 in 20 young people are getting the recommended combined amount of sleep, exercise, and screen time.  Click here for a discussion guide.

FinalForms

We are very excited to announce that the Field Local Schools has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service that will be replacing paper forms. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign enrollment, back-to-school and athletic participation forms for your students. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time.

You may review your data at any time to verify it is current. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and after any update.

Click on the Parent Playbook to read the help guide or click here to click here to get started in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom and click “User Support”.

We are asking that ALL parents of students use FinalForms.
Thank you for your assistance in streamlining our paperwork processes at Field Local Schools.
