Superintendent's Message

DAVID HEFLINGER - SUPERINTENDENT

10/5/2018

I hope your school year has gotten off to a good start!  The beginning of the year is always an exciting time.  All of our buildings have had a good start.

The Field School District is on the ballot this November.  We are seeking 9.85 mills for Operating and 1 mill for Permanent Improvements.  Permanent Improvement money can only be spent on projects for items that have a life span of 5 years or more.   For example, busses, computers, HVAC, and yes, parking lots would fall under permanent improvements.  An Operating issue raises money for everything else.  Those items include; electricity, phones, internet, fuel, paint, paper, pens, extension cords, security, and yes, salaries and benefits.  This list is not anywhere near complete, but you get the picture.  Operating issues pay for everything needed to run the schools.  It is important to note that Field spends only 71% on salaries and benefits, compared to a state average of 74%.

Field Schools continue to provide a great education at a reasonable cost.  I encourage everyone to get out and vote this November.

GO FALCONS!
