Storm Water Grant

Storm Water Grant
20141111101849372_image.jpg imageIn the spring of 2012, I wrote a proposal for a Storm Water Education Grant to build a wetland lab, develop teacher education, community education, and cross-curricular lessons in science, art, and computer technology. Field Local School District was awarded a grant of $23,383.50 from the Portage County Storm Water District to provide storm water drainage education to the Middle School 7th grade and High School Biology students. Middle School Art Teacher Amy Madden and High School Science Teacher Rebecca Scott will collaborate with me to develop this program.

Planting trees
Planting trees

Each of my 7th grade science students received a tree seedling to plant at their home. Trees reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and help improve storm water quality. These trees were provided by the Portage County Soil and Water Conservation District.
