Are you in need of transportation to an appointment?  You are invited to the Portage County Job and Family Services "Community Transportation Forum" on Tuesday, September 26th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 253 South Chestnut Street, Ravenna. Topic covered will be the availability of transportation services for Job & Family Services and Medical Appointment. Hit It! -(Hearing Impaired Teens Interacting Together) Meetings - Sept. 29th image Hit It! -(Hearing Impaired Teens Interacting Together) Meetings - Sept. 29th
Summit ESC will be hosting the Hit It! meetings for the Summit/Medina/Portage County Chapter transition and support group.  This program offers important transition activities for middle and high school students who have hearing loss in a nonthreatening environment. The forum offers an opportunity to build new friendships while learning about hearing loss in order to help successfully transition to your future work, college or independent living.  First meeting will Friday, September 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (lunch will be provided). Next meetings will be December 1st, February 2018 (evening meeting TBD), and May 4th, 2018. All meetings will be at the Summit ESC at 420 Washington Ave, Cuyahoga Falls.  Click here for the flyer and MORE information and answers to your questions!

Understanding AD/HD - Participants will gain an understanding of the history of AD/HD and some statistics on the prevalence of AD/HD in the general population.  Discussion about who is qualified to diagnose AD/HD how it affects children in school and life, and carious techniques and accommodations to support children at home and at school will be presented.  Lisa Lutz, OCECD will be the presenter, please join us at the Kent Free Library, 312 West Main Street, Kent on October 10th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Join us for Portage County Job & Family Services 2nd Annual "Child Support Fall Festival" on Saturday, October 21st from 12:00 (noon) to 2:00 p.m. at Brown Middle School, 228 S. Scranton St., Ravenna.  This is a FREE indoor event and open to the public.  Bring the whole family to paint pumpkins, decorate doughnuts and play games.  Parents are invited to visit the community partner tables and learn more about resources and support available in Portage County.  Click here for more information and the flyer for this event!

Join us on Wednesday, October 25th at Springfield Lake Roller Rink for roller skating fun for people with disabilities and their families!  Wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and shoes are permitted on the rink.  There is a FREE EVENT!  Free skate rental! Field Local Schools has partnered with Summit County Educational Service Center to provide Field's preschoolers with the best start to their educational experiences. The integrated program is for children ages 3-5 and offered to children at economic disadvantage or educational risk, children typically developing, and children with disabilities.

If you are in need of shoes for your child, Salvation Army offers the "Shoes On My Feet" program that provides vouchers for school shoes and winter boots for children Kindergarten through High School in Portage County. The Field Local School district is in the process of locating, evaluating and identifying children from birth to age 21, residing in the district, who may be entitled to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), including special education and related aids and services, pursuanmt to the Indicisuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) or section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504).
