Spanish IV

Spanish IV
Class Description:

This class is being offered as Akron U Dual-Credit Spanish 201-202 and/or Field Spanish IV. The curriculum is the same for all students.

The goal of the class is that ALL students increase their ability to read, listen to, write and speak in the target language. English is rarely used in the classroom, except to introduce difficult new grammar topics. The expectation of the student to study and work at home is unavoidable. The text book has an interactive Super Site where students will listen to native speakers conversing in Spanish, and watch a sitcom, short documentaries (called Flashculturas) as well as short 10-15 minute movies (cortometrajes) produced in Spain or Latin America. Quizzes over these are submitted on-line and generally take 40-50 minutes to complete. Participation in class requires that all students speak Spanish (with the teacher or with a partner/small group EVERY day.

Students earn 6 Credit hours thru Akron U and/or 1 Elective Credit for Field. Students who choose the Dual-Credit course also have the option of buying 8 more credit hours @ $5 pre credit for their Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 courses they took in High School, totaling 14 university credit hours.
